In the field of umbrellas, brands such as Knirps and Blunt are renowned for their sturdiness and high-quality construction, capable of withstanding winds up to 100 km/h. However, their aesthetic appeal leaves much to be desired. So I started an extensive search for an alternative that does not compromise on this matter. My research led me once more to Japan, where I discovered a traditional umbrella manufacturer called Maehara Kouei Shoten. This atelier attends to every detail. The beauty of these umbrellas extends beyond their physical appearance. It's also about the experience of using them – the feel of the handle, the sound of the canopy unfurling, the protection they offer against the elements. For those who appreciate the blend of functionality, durability, and aesthetics, investing in such an umbrella can be a beautiful discovery.
